March 18th CR&G Seminars--Kayak Fishing New England & Spring Fly Fishing The Nissitissit and Squannacook Rivers, Middlesex County MA

Tuesday, March 18th, 2014 7:00 – 9:00p.m.
Concord Rod and Gun Club, 74 Strawberry Hill Rd., Concord, MA 01742    www.concordrodandgun.com

Eric Harrison writes the monthly Kayak Corner column for On The Water magazine.  He will discuss the great kayak fishing opportunities all over the Northeast.  Most anglers don’t recognize what a great fishing platform kayaks are; Eric will demonstrate the effectiveness of the kayak as a fishing tool by walking (or paddling!) through the 2013 fishing season.  Kayak fishing tactics for everything from weakfish, carp, and lake trout to large striped bass will be reviewed. For last ten years Eric has been a hardcore kayak fisherman, focusing on Boston Harbor and the North Shore as well as the freshwaters all over New England. Eric is a hardcore striper fisherman and fishes year round from his kayak in Boston. He is well known as a fanatical plastics fisherman and has published several articles about fishing plastic lures. Eric is bringing his kayak and will show us all how it’s rigged for fishing.

Charlie Shadan owns the Evening Sun Fly Shop in Pepperell. Charlie’s presentation  includes a video he has created that shows a unique above and below water perspective of both the Nissitissit and Squannacook Rivers. His presentation will provide the audience with an effective introduction to fishing these rivers covering accessibility, parking, types of fish, state and volunteer-assisted trout stocking, and some of the more productive holes. In addition, Charlie will discuss effective fly patterns and equipment that will help novices and veterans alike land more fish. In addition to operating the fly shop, Charlie is also a fly fishing guide on New England Rivers. This is a great opportunity to learn new fishing locations close to home and to network with other local anglers.

Seminar is free and open to the public. Please invite your friends!
