Atlantic Salmon Fishing in Eastern Canada: How the King’s Men Can Catch the King of Fish by Ben Carmichael
&
My Passion for Bamboo Fly Rods by Richard Ketchen
Ben Carmichael is an avid fly fisherman, writer, photographer, and videographer. His talk will be about demystifying the majestic sport of Atlantic salmon fishing, with a focus on Eastern Canada. Ben has been fortunate to chase Atlantic salmon his entire life. Since catching his first, a 20-lb beauty, in Canada at the age of seven, he has returned to Quebec yearly. He has also edited books on topics related to Atlantic Salmon and fly fishing, including Ron Swanson’s Grand Cascapedia Giants and Hoagy Carmichael’s The Grand Cascapedia River: A History Vol I. He is the founder and editor of New England On The Fly a website dedicated to fly fishing in New England through original high-quality photographs, videos, stories, and gear reviews

Richard Ketchen is also an avid fly fisherman who just so happens to love bamboo fly rods. He is also a skilled master craftsman. In his “day job” he restores antique clocks and laboratory instrumentation which necessitates the refabricating of precision parts. He’s also made a few of his own fly reels in his time. He will share his knowledge of bamboo fly rods and have a few on display. He will also bring a few of his books to peruse for those interested in learning more about bamboo fly rods
