As many of you know Captain Kirk is a regular
volunteer at the Bedford VA hospital in Bedford Massachusetts. He is also a
member of the Rotary Club of Concord MA and the First Religious Society of
Carlisle MA. Both of these organizations are supporting this event.
He was asked by the recreational services group at
the hospital if he could again raise the funding to subsidize a fishing outing as
part of an ongoing VA recreational therapy outreach program. Trips like this encourage
veterans to become familiar with and use the services of the VA, especially younger veterans suffering from PTSD.
It is also in recognition of their service and a way of letting them know that
someone cares.
